"This track is an early product of experiments with sampling to impose a pulse on drone-like content. First manually, and later with a python script, I spliced together similar-length chunks from random points in an input audio file, resulting in a short sound file of a sequence of 'beats' that could be repeated, arranged and manipulated, and with no two being identical. Matt Politoski's meditative piano arpeggios from '8 Emanations' were a perfect candidate, serving as a melodic anchor, and coupled with the occasional static of rain. The opening section is recursive, running one improvisation with this material repeatedly through the script to further fragment it."
This album is great. more smooth jazz and vibes and funky beats. A great one to check out. Thoroughly enjoyable even if it doesn't reach the same heights as the Blue/red album, the purple album or the green album, it's still solid. Stand out track is "David Madden" brettblrr
